The National Wheat Foundation has partnered with BASF to award four scholarships for students with connections to the wheat industry. The scholarship is named in honor of Jerry Minore, who was a longtime friend of the wheat industry and advocate for wheat farmers.
To honor his work and life, BASF and NWF will award scholarships to students who are planning careers in agriculture. Children are the future of agriculture, in a very immediate sense, as the industry has witnessed a significant graying in the past decades. This is due to a number of societal and demographic changes, but the results are clear: farmers are getting older. To continue the culture of American agriculture, the NWF is seeking bright and eager students to enter into the fulfilling and timeless profession of agriculture. While not everybody farms, everybody eats, and to feed a growing population, America will need more farmers and advocates for agriculture.
The Minore Memorial Scholarship will fund four college scholarships for the 2014-2015 academic year: two $1,500 scholarships and two $1,000 scholarships.
